[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] *Update I've found a way to charge the watch that appears to work most times for me without the painfully long process described below. I turn the watch off, put it on charge and usually have to check it once or twice during the charge to turn it off again and amazingly it seems to charge to 100% quite quickly this way. Shame it took me months to find that solution and it's not something Fossil state in any documentation about charging. I've been using this watch for a good few months now and have communicated with Fossil regarding the charging issues I've had. The watch is sleek, smart looking and stylish. It's easy to use and cool to get notifications on your wrist. I found the notification element great especially when I can't get to my phone, but can see a notification on the watch. I love the sleep tracking and heart points and steps trackers too. I've been able to personalise the Bluetooth connection to turn off at night so I don't get woken up by a vibration notification in the middle of the night. The only, but most annoying issue I have with the watch is charging it. It is impossible for my to charge the watch to 100% without any issues. The watch gets too hot and stops charging, the charge goes backwards, yes backwards. It's the most annoying thing about the watch that puts me off recommending it as it's not a convient watch to charge and therefore not worth the hassle. If Fossil can solve that problem the watch would be great and I would recommend it to everyone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the style of the watch. Looks like a traditional watch, which in my opinion is big plus. After using it for a while now I use its smart functions of phone notifications mainly. Other features have fallen by the wayside as not very useful to me. Battery life is ok. Can't get used to having to charge it, much prefer a tradition watch lasting for years on a battery rather than a measly day. Going forward it will be a work watch for notifications and I'll use one of my traditional watches other times. If smart watches are your thing, then you'll love it. If you are more of a traditional watch wearer then it might be your thing because of its looks as long as charging isn't a problem for you.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall I was impressed with the Fossil FTW4059. Out of the box, it looks like a modern stylish dress watch that would fit in on a night out, your suit in the office and in your joggers by the TV. It's a bit fiddly to resize the strap but take it to a watch shop if you're unsure and they would have it done in no time. Pairing the watch to an android phone is quick and simple with the built-in software taking over most of the data exchange. Once you're paired, you're ready to go...almost. It was a bit annoying that once you have given access to the watch to take on your Google account, you have to then authorise every smart app individually, but once you're done, it's done. My main function for this watch was to keep up to date with notifications, use it in the gym and as a GPay extension. The audible chime and accompanying buzz on your wrist are hard to ignore and I'm pretty sure that you would never miss any updates. As an activity tracker, it all depends on the app that you use but the metrics and data that it collects such as your HR and O2 levels seemed pretty consistent across the various apps that need to get your vitals. It handily compiles all your data and lets you see these in charts, graphs and is available for more interrogation on your phone. As an extension to GPay, this watch is great. We went from Chip and Pin, to Contactless, to Phone and now to watch...super convenient; dangerously convenient. The battery life will easily make it through one day of moderate use (regular notifications, 1hr gym, a few GPay transactions and general procrastination) and I get the sense that with tinkering, you could make this last even longer. I was able to charge my watch fully within 90 mins whilst sitting at my desk and this would be topped up the next day. The charge speed is really impressive and you can easily get 60% in the time it takes to get ready to go out. I would like to see the watch be able to be flipped so that the face is the right way with the buttons and scroll wheel on the other side. The watch was also very sluggish when rebooted or left unworn overnight and it's almost as if the watch needs to come around in a morning but after that I found the watch to be fairly fast and responsive. Overall I like this watch and I think it makes a good mid-range starter point if you like to have a good looking watch with good functionality. It is definitely worth the money and built well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would like to say the watch is fantastic and has met my expectations. I was looking into buying a smartwatch and was thinking about the '5' version then decided to wait for the '6' version. The charging time is rapid and very impressive. I like the way notifications come quickly and sometimes I have noticed that a notification arrives on my watch before it comes on my phone. The silicon strap is good and very comfortable. My favourite part of the watch is the sleep check, i like to see how much quality sleep time I have had and it is well detailed. I think the volume could be slightly louder but I am sure that will improve with the next series. I do like the battery life but also think this can be a bit more longer but I am guessing the more apps you use then the more the battery is drained. The steps feature is good because it is not always practical to carry a phone at all times so this is far more accurate if worn on all or most ocasions. I have not really used the Spotify feature yet but will do in the not too distant future. It will be interested to see what the Alexa feature looks like when released. Overall I am impressed with the watch and would highly recommend it to family, friends and people reading this.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had reviewed the Gen 5 on the insiders and so came into this review with expectations set higher, hoping for improvements, particularly when it came to notifications, how useful they are and interactivity. The Gen 6 does not disappoint in this regard. I found notifications to be really easy to read and interact with, and the timing was also much improved than before - Google's efforts on the Wear OS front are definitely paying off. I found the suggested responses to WhatsApp messages were really spot on and actioning them was a breeze. The other key area I used a lot was to quickly manage / interact with notifications with One-Time-Passwords or apps that need me to press Yes / Approve (or otherwise) when carrying out actions that need 2 Factor Authentication. In the past, this was impossible with Wear OS but now it is so straightforward! Now to one area wherein I was quite disappointed - activity tracking! I know the Fossil and brand isn't strictly supposed to be outdoorsy or anything like that, rather it is a trendy, like high-end smart-casual... still, I didn't expect such poor performance. My walks, jogs and cycling were not detected accurately at all - neither at the start nor the proper duration. Once I even wore two watches - the Gen 6 and another from a competing brand on the other wrist, just to ensure that I wasn't imagining I'd exercised longer than the Fossil was telling me, and this proved that the Gen 6 was lacking. I don't know if it is an issue with the physical sensors or the software, but if you are looking for reliable activity tracking, this isn't the watch for you. In pretty much every other way, especially when it comes to pairing your wrist accessory with going-out clothes, this is a winner. Fossil really, really know how to make quality gear when it comes to the aesthetics... the heft of the band, the way it sat on my wrist, it was all first class. So if you're not bothered about activity tracking, then for pretty much every other use-case I can think of, this is a really compelling product.
