However, it soon transpires that the couple have welcomed the young girls to atone for inadvertently inviting a demon into their home, after mistaking it for the spirit of their daughter Annabelle. Now occupying one of Samuel's dolls the spirit proceeds to terrorise the girls as it tries to claim their souls.
