The story of Kunjunni (Vishwanathan)'s life in many ways reflects and represents the story of Kerala as a whole. With little input from his parents, Kunjunni falls under the influence of an uncle (Narendra Prasad) who was formerly a disciple of Ghandi but now considers himself a Marxist. Drawn increasingly towards left-wing ideas, Kunjunni eventually participates in violent protest and is thrown in jail. Upon his release he attempts to start a normal family and to reconcile his dreams with the reality around him. Will he succeed?
