Zhangke Jia writes and directs this Chinese drama starring Tao Zhao and Fan Liao. Beginning in 2001, the film follows the relationship of gangster Bin (Liao) and his girlfriend Qiao (Zhao). When Bin's life is threatened by members of a rival young gang, Qiao intervenes and is sentenced to five years in jail for her part in the confrontation. When she is released, she goes looking for Bin and eventually finds him in the city of Fengjie, where he lives a peaceful life having turned his back on his criminal past, but will Qiao choose to join him?
