Directed by Steno, Banana Joe (1982) stars Bud Spencer as a laid-back banana trader living in a small Caribbean harbor community threatened by corrupt businessmen and local gangsters. Blending action comedy, slapstick fights and tropical adventure, the film became one of Spencers best-known solo comedies of the 1980s. Its mix of fistfights, easygoing humor and exotic island setting reflects the lighter side of Italian popular cinema from the period.
