Directed by Bertrand Blier and starring Gérard Depardieu, Buffet froid follows a lonely and unstable man who becomes entangled in a series of surreal murders and bizarre encounters across an alienating modern Paris. Combining absurd black comedy, crime elements and existential satire, the film explores violence, paranoia and social detachment through surreal conversations and unpredictable events. Buffet froid received César recognition for its screenplay and became closely associated with Bertrand Bliers darkly absurd style of French cinema.
