In Crimes of the Future (2022), visionary director David Cronenberg returns to his body horror roots, tracing a grotesque future in which human evolution accelerates and performance surgery becomes art. As the body becomes both subject and spectacle, Mortensens character Saul Tenser must face the transformation of flesh, desire, and identity in a dystopian world where pain has been erased but the cost is harrowing.

In the near future, a couple of performance artists push the boundaries of taste and decency with daring shows of mutilation and organ mutation. All the while a shadowy government agency is closing in on a terrorist group that are pushing for the next evolution in the human experience.
