Edward Dmytryks Oscar-nominated film noir follows a police captain investigating the murder of a Jewish man by demobilized soldiers. Robert Mitchum and Robert Ryan anchor this tense, post-war crime drama where prejudice and paranoia replace conventional motives a bold moral mystery from Hollywoods classic noir era.
