Julie Christie and Fritz Weaver star in this 1970s US sci-fi horror based on the novel by Dean R. Koontz. Dr Alex Harris (Weaver), a top computer scientist, develops a groundbreaking artificially intelligent computer that has almost limitless powers. When the computer, called Proteus IV, is refused permission to test its cure for leukaemia, it thinks that its creator is about to pull the plug on it, and hatches a plan with a robot servant to wreak its revenge - a plan that will ultimately involve the scientist's estranged wife, Susan (Christie).
