Directed by Rod Daniel, K-9 stars James Belushi as San Diego detective Michael Dooley, a narcotics officer forced to partner with a drug-sniffing police dog named Jerry Lee. As the pair pursue a powerful drug trafficker, their uneasy partnership develops into an effective crime-fighting team. Combining police investigations, action and buddy-cop comedy, the film became the first entry in the K-9 franchise.
