The early 19th century saw the creation of numerous travel posters to encourage tourists to visit England’s historic cities, seaside resorts, and rolling countrysides. The artwork in this calendar highlights a variety of railway advertisements crafted in the 1920s and 1930s, featuring the work of experienced and amateur painters alike. Artists from around the United Kingdom experimented with typography and bold colors to entice travelers to scenic destinations like Cornwall, Brighton, Oxford, and Teesdale. These vintage posters will transport you along some of the most popular routes from the Great Western Railway of England, London and North Eastern Railway, and British Railways.
