Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall star in this action drama directed by Joel Schumacher. When the air conditioning in his car fails while he is caught in a traffic jam, it proves to be the final straw for William Foster (Douglas). He abandons his car and sets out on foot across the city of Los Angeles but, railing against society's iniquities, he soon resorts to violence against those who stand in his way. Meanwhile, Sergeant Martin Prendergast (Duvall) attempts to track him down before the situation spirals completely out of control. The cast also includes Barbara Hershey, Rachel Ticotin and Tuesday Weld.
