Hong Kong Phooey (1974)

Hong Kong Phooey follows mild-mannered janitor Penrod Penry Pooch, who transforms into a masked crime-fighter with the help of his animated instruction manual and his loyal cat, Spot. The series blends slapstick comedy with light martial-arts parody, using exaggerated mishaps and Saturday-morning adventure formulas to shape each case. Its playful tone and stylized action reflect the eras animated approach to superhero and detective storytelling.
