Directed by Jim Gillespie, I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Gellar as teenagers haunted by a deadly secret following a hit-and-run accident. Based on Lois Duncans novel, the film blends slasher conventions with small-town suspense, as a masked killer stalks the group one year later. The film became a defining title of the late-1990s teen horror wave.
