Directed by Robert Stromberg and starring Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning, Sharlto Copley and Sam Riley, Maleficent reimagines Disneys Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of its iconic antagonist. After betrayal transforms Maleficents relationship with the human kingdom, she places a curse on Princess Aurora but gradually develops an unexpected bond with her. The film combines Disney fairy-tale fantasy with a darker origin story centred on Maleficent.
