Based on the manga by Hideyuki Furuhashi and Betten Court, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes explores the superhero world several years before the main My Hero Academia series. The anime follows college student Koichi Haimawari, underground performer Pop☆Step and the Quirkless fighter Knuckleduster as they use their abilities to protect people without professional hero licences. Produced by Bones Film, the series combines animated superhero action with street-level crime, illegal vigilantism and appearances by characters from the wider franchise.
