Directed by Horace Ové, Pressure (1976) is a British social drama following a Black British teenager struggling with racism, unemployment and cultural identity in 1970s London. Often regarded as the first Black British feature film, the story explores generational conflict within a Trinidadian immigrant family as political radicalization and social frustration begin to shape the young protagonists worldview. Combining social realism with political anger and urban street life, the film focuses on alienation, class and systemic racism in contemporary Britain.
