Directed by Sam Peckinpah and starring Joel McCrea and Randolph Scott, Ride the High Country is a Western drama about aging lawmen escorting gold through the American frontier. The film combines traditional Western themes with the more reflective and morally complex tone that would later become associated with revisionist Western cinema. It is widely connected to the late-era classical Western tradition of the early 1960s.
