Directed by Kanji Wakabayashi and Hiroshi Hamasaki, Steins;Gate: The Movie Load Region of Déjà Vu (2013) is a Japanese animated sci-fi thriller continuing the story of Rintaro Okabe as unstable memories and shifting timelines begin to threaten his existence after the events of the Steins;Gate series. Combining emotional character drama with time-travel paradoxes and psychological tension, the film explores memory, identity and sacrifice through a layered science-fiction narrative. Based on the visual novel Steins;Gate, the story blends romance, alternate realities and existential uncertainty within a densely constructed time-travel world.
