Directed by Makoto Shinkai, Suzume is a Japanese anime feature film about a teenage girl who travels across Japan closing mysterious doors connected to natural disasters. Nanoka Hara voices Suzume Iwato, with Hokuto Matsumura, Eri Fukatsu and Shōta Sometani in a film shaped by fantasy adventure, disaster imagery, coming-of-age drama and Shinkais blend of romance, memory and landscape. The film connects contemporary anime with road-movie structure, supernatural fantasy and the emotional aftermath of catastrophe.
