Directed by Jonathan Kaplan, The Accused stars Jodie Foster as Sarah Tobias, a woman who seeks justice after being gang-raped in a bar, with Kelly McGillis as the prosecutor handling her case. The film follows both Sarahs ordeal and the legal effort to hold not only the attackers but also the men who encouraged the assault accountable. Inspired by the 1983 Cheryl Araujo case, the film earned Foster the Academy Award for Best Actress.
