Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale star in this gothic horror written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. In Chicago in 1936, Frankenstein's monster (Bale) asks scientist Dr. Cornelia Euphronious (Annette Bening) to create an eternal companion for him to ease his loneliness. Taking pity on him, she helps him to reanimate a murdered woman who becomes his Bride (Buckley). As the two of them begin their new life together, it soon becomes apparent that as the Bride discovers herself, she cannot be controlled or contained. The cast also includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Penélope Cruz and Peter Sarsgaard.
