Directed by Shohei Imamura, The Eel follows a man released from prison who attempts to rebuild his life in a small town. The story unfolds through his daily routines, interactions with others and gradual adjustments to life outside confinement. The narrative focuses on character, environment and behavior rather than a plot driven by external conflict.
