The Expendables 3 (2014), directed by Patrick Hughes, expands the mercenary action franchise by introducing a younger generation of operatives alongside veteran action stars. Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham return, joined by Mel Gibson as the primary antagonist and Harrison Ford in a military leadership role. The film shifts toward larger-scale missions and a broader ensemble focus while retaining the franchises emphasis on tactical action.
