Directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (1983) stars Tomoyo Harada, Ryōichi Takayanagi and Toshinori Omi. Based on the book by Yasutaka Tsutsui, the film follows high school student Kazuko Yoshiyama after she discovers she can travel through time and begins to experience mysterious changes in her life and relationships. Combining science fiction, romance and drama, the story explores youth, memory and the consequences of altering time.
