The Hurt Locker follows an elite U.S. Army bomb disposal unit operating in Iraq, capturing the psychological toll of modern warfare through intense, ground-level missions. Focusing on addiction to danger and the erosion of normal life, the film presents war as a relentless state of tension rather than spectacle. Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, the film won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, becoming the first Best Picture winner centered on the Iraq War.
