Directed by Roman Polanski, The Pianist (2002) stars Adrien Brody as Polish pianist Władysław Szpilman during World War II. The film follows his struggle to survive in Nazi-occupied Warsaw after the destruction of the Jewish ghetto. Adrien Brody won the Academy Award for Best Actor, and the film also won Oscars for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
