Directed by James Glickenhaus and starring Jackie Chan, The Protector follows a New York police officer who travels to Hong Kong while investigating the kidnapping of a wealthy businessmans daughter. Combining martial arts action, police investigation and international crime conflict, the film mixes American action cinema with Hong Kong fight choreography and stunt work. The story centers on drug trafficking, organized crime and escalating confrontations across both New York and Hong Kong.
