Written and directed by Ujicha, Violence Voyager uses his distinctive gekimation technique of hand-painted cut-outs to tell the story of two boys who discover a strange amusement park hidden in the mountains. What begins as a seemingly playful adventure quickly turns into a grotesque nightmare involving trapped children, robot-like humanoids, disturbing experiments and extreme bodily transformation. The film blends anime, sci-fi horror and surreal body horror with an intentionally artificial, storybook-like visual style.
