Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Jackie Earle Haley, Patrick Wilson, Billy Crudup and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 where masked vigilantes and superheroes have shaped American history. The murder of former Watchman Edward Blake draws Rorschach into an investigation that uncovers a wider conspiracy as tensions between the United States and Soviet Union approach nuclear war. Based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, the film combines superhero mythology with political conspiracy and dystopian science fiction.
