Directed by Munehisa Sakai and produced by MAPPA, Zombie Land Saga follows Sakura Minamoto, a teenage girl who awakens as a zombie and is recruited into an unusual idol group by the unpredictable Kōtarō Tatsumi. Together with six other resurrected performers from different eras, Sakura becomes part of Franchouchou, a group created to promote Japans Saga Prefecture through concerts and public appearances. The anime combines idol music, zombie comedy and supernatural absurdity with stories about performance, friendship and the members former lives.
