Directed by Frank Lloyd and starring Charles Laughton, Clark Gable and Franchot Tone, Mutiny on the Bounty follows the crew of HMS Bounty on its voyage to Tahiti under the increasingly brutal command of Captain William Bligh. Tensions aboard ship eventually lead Fletcher Christian and members of the crew to mutiny, setting off a struggle for survival and justice at sea. Based on books by Charles Nordhoff and James Norman Hall, the film won the Academy Award for Best Picture
