Starring James Garner, The Rockford Files follows private investigator Jim Rockford as he takes on missing-person cases, insurance fraud investigations and criminal mysteries across Southern California. Created by Roy Huggins and Stephen J. Cannell, the series combines detective work, character-driven storytelling and occasional action with Rockfords unconventional investigative style. The show became one of the defining American private-eye series of the 1970s and earned James Garner an Emmy Award for his performance.
