Joseph Loseys Time Without Pity (1957) is a tense British courtroom thriller starring Michael Redgrave as a desperate father racing to clear his son before an execution. Blending social critique with noir-tinged suspense, it stands as one of Loseys finest works of postwar British cinema and a landmark in moral-legal drama.

A star-studded cast gather for one of the finest film noirs of the 1950s, Time Without Pity. A young man (Alec McCowen) is waiting on death row, charged with killing his girlfriend but out of the blue his estranged, alcoholic father (Michael Redgrave) arrives, determined to clear his sons name. Will the true killer be revealed from the ever-growing list of suspects? Leo McKern, Ann Todd, Lois Maxwell and Joan Plowright pull out all the stops to ensure the movie remains classy and real. Each frame is filled with pathos and drama with characters who live with the constant baggage of regret, remorse and need for retribution.
