Directed by Demián Rugna, When Evil Lurks follows two brothers in rural Argentina who discover a grotesquely infected man carrying a demonic presence that threatens to spread through the surrounding community. Their attempts to contain the evil instead accelerate its violent advance, forcing them to confront a set of disturbing rules surrounding possession and contagion. The film won Best Feature Film at the 2023 Sitges Film Festival, becoming the first Latin American film to win the festivals top prize.
