Directed by Ti West, X (2022) is a retro-styled slasher horror film following a group of young filmmakers who travel to a remote Texas farm to shoot an adult movie before becoming targets of a violent elderly couple. Starring Mia Goth and Jenna Ortega, the film combines exploitation cinema aesthetics, rural horror atmosphere and graphic violence with themes of aging, sexuality and voyeurism. The story blends character tension, body-count horror and 1970s-inspired filmmaking into a modern homage to classic American horror.
