Directed by Bob Fosse, All That Jazz (1979) is a musical drama following an obsessive stage director and choreographer struggling to balance work, relationships and self-destruction. Starring Roy Scheider, the film blends backstage drama with elaborate musical performances inspired by Fosses own career in theatre and film. The film won the Palme dOr at the Cannes Film Festival and received multiple Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. Combining psychological drama with dance and performance elements, it remains one of the defining American musicals of the 1970s.
