American Animals (2018), written and directed by Bart Layton, dramatizes the true story of four students who attempt a rare-book heist and gradually realize how far fantasy is from reality. Blending staged scenes with interviews of the real people involved, the film focuses on motive, self-mythology, and consequences rather than thrills. It plays as a character-driven crime story grounded in a real case.

Från IMDB:
Four young men mistake their lives for a movie and attempt one of the most audacious heists in U.S. history.
