Written and directed by Justin Simien, Bad Hair (2020) is a darkly satirical horror-comedy set in 1989 Los Angeles. When an ambitious young woman gets a weave that seems to have a mind and a hunger of its own, her climb through the TV-music industry turns nightmarish. Blending supernatural horror with biting commentary on beauty standards, race, and media exploitation, its one of the decades most original genre hybrids.
