Directed by Tim Burton, Batman Returns (1992) sees Michael Keaton reprise his role as Bruce Wayne alongside Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman and Danny DeVito as the Penguin. The film centers on political manipulation and criminal ambition in Gotham City during the holiday season. Continuing Burtons darker interpretation of the DC Comics character, the sequel emphasizes stylized production design and morally ambiguous characters.
