Directed by Elem Klimov, Come and See follows teenage Flyora after he joins Soviet partisans in Nazi-occupied Belarus during World War II. His expectations of adventure are destroyed as he witnesses the systematic violence inflicted on civilians and entire villages. Based on writings by Ales Adamovich and grounded in survivor testimony and historical atrocities, the film presents war through an increasingly nightmarish and subjective perspective.
