Cop Land (1997), directed by James Mangold, stars Sylvester Stallone in a subdued dramatic role alongside Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta and Robert De Niro. Set in a small New Jersey town dominated by off-duty New York police officers, the film follows a marginalized sheriff who begins to uncover deep-rooted institutional corruption. The story emphasizes moral decay, complicity, and silence over action spectacle, positioning the film firmly as a crime-driven character study.
