Directed by John Waters and starring Mink Stole and Liz Renay, Desperate Living is an underground cult comedy set in the grotesque outlaw community of Mortville. The film combines transgressive humor, exploitation aesthetics and absurd social satire while following criminals, misfits and authoritarian rulers within a deliberately outrageous and chaotic world. The production is strongly associated with John Waters early cult cinema period and underground midnight movie culture.
