David MacDonalds Devil Girl from Mars (1954) is a cult British sci-fi film where a mysterious alien woman (Patricia Laffan) lands her spacecraft in the Scottish Highlands, intent on recruiting men for the dying male population of Mars. Trapping a group of humans inside a remote inn, she demonstrates her powers and issues an ultimatum. Mixing Cold War anxieties with pulp adventure, the film became a campy gem of mid-century British science fiction.
