Directed by John McTiernan, Die Hard with a Vengeance brings Bruce Willis back as John McClane, who is forced into a series of increasingly dangerous assignments across New York by a mysterious bomber played by Jeremy Irons. Samuel L. Jackson co-stars as Zeus Carver, an unwilling civilian drawn into McClanes race to prevent further explosions while uncovering the criminal plan behind the threats. The third Die Hard film expands the series beyond a single location into a fast-moving combination of action, urban suspense, bomb threats and robbery.

Från IMDB:
John McClane is forced out of suspension to play a game of Simon Says by a terrorist who has planted bombs all around New York City and will detonate them if McClane doesnt do what he says.
