Directed by Ciro Guerra, Embrace of the Serpent (2016) is a hypnotic, black-and-white exploration of colonialism, memory, and the Amazon. Inspired by the travel journals of early 20th-century explorers, it follows an Indigenous shaman and two Western scientists across decades as they search for a sacred healing plant. A poetic, haunting vision of the clash between cultures and the vanishing world of the Amazon rainforest and a landmark in Latin American cinema.

Från IMDB:
