Directed by Jerzy Skolimowski, Essential Killing stars Vincent Gallo as a captured insurgent who escapes military transport and flees through a frozen wilderness while pursued by armed forces. Combining survival-driven tension, psychological pressure and minimalist storytelling, the film moves between war-related conflict, chase thriller and harsh environmental survival. The film received recognition at the Venice Film Festival, where Vincent Gallo won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor.
