Directed by Yoshihide Ibata, Fruits Basket: Prelude expands the story of Natsuki Takayas Fruits Basket by revealing the past of Tohru Hondas parents, Kyoko and Katsuya. Beginning with Kyoko as a troubled teenager, the film follows the relationship that changes the direction of her life and eventually leads to the Honda family. Combining this previously untold prequel with a recap of Tohru and Kyos story and a new epilogue, the film provides a companion piece to the complete 2019 2021 anime adaptation.
