Directed by Kazuya Nomura, Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie is a Japanese anime feature film based on Masamune Shirows Ghost in the Shell. Maaya Sakamoto voices Motoko Kusanagi in a cyberpunk story connected to Ghost in the Shell: Arise, where Public Security Section 9 is drawn into political violence, cybercrime and questions of identity. The film combines anime sci-fi, techno-thriller elements, cybernetic bodies and the wider Ghost in the Shell universe.
