Hot Shots! (1991)
Directed by Jim Abrahams, Hot Shots! parodies high-adrenaline aviation films as an emotionally conflicted fighter pilot joins a top-secret mission. The film blends rapid-fire visual gags, genre spoofing, and ensemble absurdity, drawing on the comedic style established by Airplane!. Its combination of slapstick, military satire, and pop-culture humor made it a defining spoof of early-1990s action cinema.

Hot Shots! Part Deux (1993)
Hot Shots! Part Deux, also directed by Jim Abrahams, shifts its focus to action-hero and war-movie tropes as a reluctant commando leads a rescue operation filled with escalating parody. The film heightens the originals style through exaggerated combat sequences, meta-comedy, and densely packed sight gags. Its blend of spoof and stylized action stands as one of the more ambitious genre send-ups of the decade.
